Prosecutors will paint Hernandez as a man who chose to hang out with a rough crowd even after he signed a $40 million contract extension in 2012. They will also note that he has previous run-ins with the law in Florida and that he was oftentimes pushed hard by his now deceased father.
Friends of the former NFL player call his crowd of friends gangsters, and, according to Rolling Stone, even Aaron Hernandez himself feared some of the people he called friends. At one point, Hernandez flew to the NFL combine in Indianapolis to tell Bill Belichick that his life was in danger.
Along with PCP, he is believed to have smoked marijuana after each NFL outing, a fact that was once against confirmed by people from his inner-circle.
Friends also reveal that he rented his apartment in Franklin, Massachusetts in order to escape the rough crowd but that ultimately he continued to remain emotionally unstable while using drugs.
Following his arrest, prosecutors revealed that he is also a suspect in the murders of two other men in Boston.
Aaron Hernandez will be arraigned on September 6 in Fall River, Massachusetts. The former NFLer was indicted on Thursday.
