‘Dead Island: Epidemic’ Zombie MOBA Coming To PC

Dead Island: Epidemic, a zombie MOBA, is coming to PC.

Dead Island was a sleeper hit among the zombie game crowd. It was an ambitious zombie RPG of sorts, mixing action and role-playing elements into a zombie basher for the whole family, provided the whole family is old enough to play it and not easily offended.

It held nothing back, sometimes throwing an army of Infected (running berzerkers) at you in the middle of a mission. One thing you could know for sure about Dead Island was that you were going to die a lot until you mastered the combat controls. What gave it additional depth was its weapon crafting system, which let you use random pieces of scrap and household items to turn an ordinary baseball bat into a toxic blunt weapon that would make zombies stop and toss their cookies.

After Dead Island: Riptide, which simply continued the story without actually adding much of anything (as previously reported by The Inquisitr ), Deep Silver is releasing a multiplayer-friendly version of the game for PC in Dead Island: Epidemic. The upcoming game is a MOBA, or multiplayer online battle arena, which Deep Silver claims will keep all of the same elements from the first two games, but likely makes it more combat heavy. Three teams of players will compete to survive the zombie onslaught .

The details surrounding the free-to-play Dead Island: Epidemic will be announced at Gamescon later this month, but for now, we can still imagine what it could entail. We believe it could be more of a first-person version of Dead Rising without the camera, but with more players whacking the undead with weapons no sane person would be using in a civilized society. Instead of crafting weapons, which could easily slow down the MOBA gameplay, Dead Island: Epidemic could use power-ups to instantly upgrade whatever weapon you’re holding.

Hopefully, Dead Island: Epidemic will be made without the glitches that held its predecessors back from what could have made them great. Probably nothing could make a room full of Dead Island fans start laughing more than suddenly seeing a zombie freeze with its derriere in the air and someone smacking it with a crowbar.

What do you think of the upcoming PC MOBA Dead Island: Epidemic?
