Johnny Cash is set to be posthumously honoured with a stamp in the United States, produced by the United States Postal Service.
Beyond The Perf.com also states that this stamp will be part of a new Music Icons stamp series, the remaining two artists will be revealed later this year.
It is taken from a photograph by Frank Bez that was shot during the photo session for Ring of Fire: The Best of Johnny Cash in 1963.
Greg Breeding has served as the art director and designer for the stamp, and it has carefully been produced to resemble a 45 rpm record sleeve.
In more Cash news, a new museum dedicated to the country star is set to open in Nashville. Bill Miller, a collector of Cash memorabilia, will showcase his findings alongside various items which have been donated by Cash’s family.
Another Cash museum, based in Hendersonville, Tennessee, called The House of Cash, which closed in 1999, has donated its sign, as well as various other pieces it still possesses that fans of the singer can soon fawn over.
Cash’s daughter, Roseanne Cash, said of Miller, “He’s been an incredible supporter of my dad and one of the largest collectors of memorabilia. If anybody has the whole structure to put up a museum, he does. So I have a lot of trust in him and I think it’s great at this point. I think he’ll do something with dignity and class that’s historically important, not some kitschy thing.”
