It was just last month when it was speculated that Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson might be slated to play the female superhero Captain Marvel. Today, the news has been made official.
According to Entertainment Weekly , the actress herself confirmed the news via her Twitter account. The Room protagonist posted a photo of her with a Marvel Studios cap saying everyone should now call her Captain Marvel.
Chris Evans, who plays Captain America in the Marvel universe, first heard about the rumors last month, and the actor was more than happy about the possibility.
“I love Brie Larson. We did a movie together back in ’09, ‘Scott Pilgrim vs The World.’ I cannot say enough about Brie Larson. I think she’s phenomenal, and I really hope that happens.”
The good thing for these two top actors is the fact that they have already worked in a different project before in the Michael Cera film, Scott Pilgrim VS. The World . Though the two did not play as lovers, they participated on different parts of the film.

Brie Larson played as Scott Pilgrim’s evil ex-girlfriend. Larson’s singing act was also featured in the film.
Larson has showed the world that she will not be defined by a specific role. She has also been one of those actresses who have successfully transitioned from one character to another. This is the power of real acting. She has played smaller roles in The Babysitter, Tanner Hall and Just Peck .
After playing Scott Pilgrim VS. The World , Brie Larson did a video short out of her character and the short film was called Brie Larson: Black Sheep .
Brie Larson then entered the arena of television. She played Kate Gregson in United States of Tara . She then went on to fill in different silver screen roles in 21 Jump Street , The Gambler, Digging for Fire and the Oscar-winning film, Room .

Filling The Captain Marvel Role
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige spoke during the San Diego Comic-Con to introduce Brie Larson to everyone.
“Let me clarify,” Feige said. “Captain Marvel has gone by many names in the comics, has had many people who’ve inhabited that costume and used that power base. I want to make it very clear: This hero’s name is Carol Danvers.”

Carol Danvers actually has a deep background in the Marvel Comics. She is also known as Ms. Marvel, the female counterpart of Captain Marvel. As for the movie version, Feige said that Captain Marvel is going to be a female.
Captain Marvel first appeared in the March 1968 volume of Marvel Super-Heroes #13. Carol Danvers did not initially have superpowers. She was an officer of the United States Air Force until she got involved in an explosion that caused her DNA to change. Then, Carol Danvers would transform into Captain Marvel , inheriting the power of an alien called Kree.
“My name is Captain Marvel… I am an Earthling and an Avenger. But today I stand as one with the settlers of Torfa, who claim this planet and its resources as they were freely given in the aftermath of the Behemoth disaster… They are a peaceful people, but I am a woman of war. If you move against them, you move against me. I am willing to die here today, for this cause. I have made my choice… Now you make yours.”
Though Brie Larson’s movie was set to be a solo feature out of Captain Marvel, there is a big possibility for her to join the Avengers, just like in the comics.
The Avengers would invite her because Scarlet Witch is on her leave. She would join the team and would prove herself to be an outstanding asset until an event with “Marcus” happens.
For more information on the new Captain Marvel movie, fans should wait for the Mar. 8, 2019 release.
