Beyonce’s ‘Grown Woman’ single has been teased in a new Pepsi advert that features all the Beyonces .
In the TV spot (viewable below), the singer is seen strutting her stuff to the new song in front of a mirror before staging a dance-off with multiple incarnations of herself from the past decade or so. There’s ‘Crazy in Love’ Beyonce in her white tank and cutoff denim shorts, Destiny’s Child-era Beyonce in a pink ‘Bootylicious’ getup, and, of course, ‘Single Ladies’ Beyonce, complete with titanium roboglove and raised hair.
“Embrace your past,” says the star at the end, “but live for now.”
As for Beyonce’s ‘Grown Woman’ track itself, the web seems to have responded well to it. Carl Williot at Idolator writes:
“The swaggering beat and verses seem to continue the more aggressive direction that emerged on ‘Bow Down/I Been On,’ moving away from the raw romanticism of ‘4.’ ”
SPIN , meanwhile, described the Timbaland-produced track as, “an appealingly updated, slightly more sophisticated version of the same singer who broke out with Destiny’s Child. It’s refreshing and bubbly, like a — well, whatever, it works.”
It’s also been revealed that the song will launch on Monday, April 8. It’s the first single off the singer’s currently untitled upcoming album, which will features a hearty number of famous songwriters and producers, including The-Dream.
