The FX sitcom Anger Management has found its new leading lady.
Singer and Broadway actress Laura Bell Bundy has reportedly been tapped to fill the void left by Selma Blair. The former star parted ways with the comedy after butting heads with Charlie Sheen.
Bundy will tackle the role of Dr. Jordan Denby on Anger Management. The character is described as a “brilliant psychologist whose recent divorce, fondness for alcohol and wild mood swings turn Charlie’s life into an emotional roller coaster.”
Although Dr. Denby will eventually fall for Sheen’s character, her love for the guy will come with plenty of self-loathing. Denby was reportedly conceived as recurring role, though it’s believed that she will be a series regular.
Laura Bell Bundy will begin shooting Anger Management this week . The new season of the FX series should hit the small screen at some point later this year.
The actress may not be a household name, but she’s far from an industry newbie. Bundy previously worked on Guiding Light, How I Met Your Mother, and the CW series Hart of Dixie. However, she is probably best known for her turn as Elle Woods in the Broadway version of Legally Blonde.
The Tony Award-nominated actress isn’t the only new addition to the Anger Management team. Although he previously appeared in a handful of episodes, Brian Austin Green has been added as a series regular. His character is described as a “male foil” to Charlie Sheen.
The Inquisitr previously reported that O.J. Simpson is extremely interested in landing a part on the sitcom as well. Norman Pardo, the convicted kidnapper’s promoter, said last month that a senior production assistant on the show didn’t seem to think it was a bad idea.
“He said, Anger Management with O.J. Simpson? That would be a perfect fit! O.J. would play a thinly veiled version of himself — a famous con who’s p***ed off about being unjustly incarcerated,” Pardo told the New York Post.
