Actor Matt Damon has signed on for a small role in director and former Monty Python cast member Terry Gilliam’s upcoming film Zero Theorem , according to Cinema Blend . The two previously worked together on the filmmaker’s troubled 2005 production The Brothers Grimm , which also starred Heath Ledger, Peter Stormare, and Monica Bellucci. Although the film wasn’t well-received upon its theatrical release, apparently this hasn’t stopped the two from forming a strong professional relationship.
During a conversation with the folks at Vulture , Matt Damon revealed that he would have to keep his head shaved for his turn in Gilliam’s The Zero Theorem . Since the actor is currently doing a few reshoots for District 9 director Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium , the bald head shouldn’t be much of a problem.
“I shaved [my head] again this morning,” Damon explained. “There are two extra days of shooting that we have to do next week, and not to bore you with this, but I had to shave it because I have to do a wig fitting. I’m going to do three days with Terry Gilliam, and now that I have to shave my head, I need to do a wig for Terry’s movie.”
If you’re hoping the Green Zone star will have a huge part in the latest Gilliam flick, the actor explained that, sadly, this isn’t the case. “I’m just doing a very small part in it,” Damon said. “Someone finally gave him money to do this one, thank God. It’s with Christoph Waltz and Tilda Swinton. I’d do anything for Terry. It’s been ten years since I last worked with him.”
Zero Theorem reportedly follows the adventures of a computer hacker who embarks on a quest to learn the secret of human existence. In order to keep the hacker from stumbling across the best-kept secret in the universe, a group called the Management sends a teenager and an alluring love interest to distract him from his endeavor.
