Wesley Snipes is still in prison as of this writing, but that isn’t stopping the actor from getting his career back on track.
Snipes is all set to star in director Andrew Goth’s long-awaited Gallowwalkers as soon as the Passenger 57 star emerges from his cell. According to Cinema Blend , the actor is expected to leave the McKean Federal Correction Institution on July 19.
The action-horror hybrid originally went into production back in 2006, right around the time that Wesley Snipes began facing serious legal troubles for tax evasion. Little else is known about the project, particularly how much footage was shot prior to Snipe’s conviction.
However, the folks at VMI Worldwide intend to start pushing the film in earnest at the European Film Market in Berlin this February. While Snipes will still be in prison at the time, his upcoming release is expected to help the movie find distribution.
VMI said in a statement:
“We are very proud to be the company re-introducing Wesley Snipes to our buyers, knowing the strong demand for him to entertain us again.”
Screen Daily explains that VMI will also be pushing a handful of other titles at the EFM next month. In addition to Gallowwalkers , the company will be promoting the Dolph Lundgren and Vinnie Jones flick Blood of Redemption . Scorched Earth starring Sean Bean will also be looking for a home.
Gallowwalkers is currently scheduled to screen on February 8. The film has been officially described as follows:
“GALLOWWALKERS is the story of a mysterious gunman, Aman, the son of a nun, who breaks her covenant with God to ensure his survival. Her break with God curses her son to be hunted by all those who die by his hand – When he takes revenge on a gang that murdered his love, the gang rises as a cursed crew of undead warriors and hunt him mercilessly, seeking their ‘dying’ revenge.”
