Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth Make Their First Public Appearance Together After Rekindled Love At The ‘Variety’ Power Of Women Luncheon

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have been keeping their relationship out of the spotlight since they got back together earlier this year. However, the two lovebirds took a huge step in their love life when they appeared in public together on Friday, October 14.

Miley and Liam made a rare appearance at a red carpet event, wherein they attended Variety’s Power of Women luncheon. Hemsworth appeared to support Cyrus who was one of the event’s honorees of 2016.

Miley Cyrus, 23, was honored at the Audi-sponsored event for her continued charity work with Happy Hippie Foundation. The star founded the foundation in 2014 as a nonprofit to offer support to homeless youth and the LGBTQ community.

The “Wrecking Ball” singer appeared sweet and stylish in a polka dot and floral navy blue patterned jumpsuit. On the other hand, her boyfriend, Liam, kept it chic in a white button down and black suit jacket.

Speaking with E! News , an onlooker said, “ She wrapped her arm around him and leaned her head against his shoulder.”

Besides enjoying the company of each other, Cyrus and Hemsworth mixed and mingled with many other celebrities, including Helen Mirren. As tradition, the Friday Power of Women luncheon brought together some of the most inspirational women in Hollywood.

Among those who joined Miley Cyrus and Mirren during the event were Scarlett Johansson, Jenna Dewan Tatum, and Laverne Cox. These Hollywood women have been outstanding in using their power and platforms to make a difference in society.

“From challenging stigma around gender and sexuality to fighting for increased access to reproductive health and services to advocating for wildlife policy and reform, Miley uses her … privilege [for those] who don’t have any power at all,” People quoted actress Jamie Brewer as saying of Cyrus as she introduced her to the audience.

The “Wrecking Ball” singer said during her speech that she was excited to not only share the day with the bold women in the room, but also felt just lucky. After Miley hit the stage, she threw Happy Hippie Foundation stickers into the audience and joked that “it’s like a strip club, but not as fun!”

Hemsworth watched Cyrus speak onstage as she accepted her award. He laughed at the jokes made my Miley, clapped and listened keenly as she spoke about her passion for making a real change in the world.

The singer wrapped up her speech on a serious note. She spoke to those who ever felt like they were different or did not matter, encouraging them to take it as a victory and know that they are not alone. Cyrus sent her love into the world since she felt people desperately need it.

At the end of the event, the 26-year-old Hemsworth stood beside his lady and gave her the spotlight while she mingled with guests and posed for stills with fans. After cancelling their engagement in 2013, the duo rekindled their relationship over the holidays in January this year when they were seen hanging out at a party in Australia. Ever since, Miley has been wearing the ring Hemsworth popped the question with in 2012.

Meanwhile, the “Wrecking Ball” singer previously shared that she became involved with the LGBTQ community after struggling most of her life trying to understand her gender and sexuality. Miley Cyrus explained the reason behind her disliking the term “bisexual” and unveiled that her first relationship was with a girl.

According to the singer, the word “bisexual” put her in a box, and therefore, she does not ever look at someone as being a boy or a girl. She gained more insight about gender identity issues when she was in the “fifth or sixth grade.”
