Although the two are currently vying for a significant part of your paycheck, Time Warner Cable seems to have found a friend in DirecTV during the dispute with CBS.

Here’s the story so far: Time Warner doesn’t want to pay the asking price for CBS’ content. The broadcaster, meanwhile, feels that TWC is being cheap. The two are currently at odds with one another, resulting in the provider dropping CBS from its lineup in New York, Los Angeles, and Dallas.

Both parties seem determined to blame one another for the problem. However, the folks at DirecTV have come to the cable company’s defense. According to them, CBS is definitely at fault since they don’t appear to have their viewers’ best interest at heart.

Since Time Warner Cable subscribers were heading to the internet to catch new episodes of certain shows on the CBS website, the broadcaster decided to pull access to the free content in those markets. Since this also affects DirecTV subscribers, the company isn’t exactly happy about the situation.

“DirecTV has certainly had its share of these battles, so we applaud Time Warner Cable for fighting back against exorbitant programming cost increases,” the company said in a statement .

The press released added that CBS’ desire to extract as much money from cable providers as humanly possible has reached an all-time low. Since their customers are being affected by this situation, the company is currently siding with Time Warner.

“We are also appalled to learn that CBS is now punishing DirecTV customers, who may happen to have Time Warner as their Internet provider, by denying them access to CBS content online,” the statement continued.

Approximately 3.5 million people are reportedly affected by the current blackout. Fans of such popular shows as NCIS, The Big Bang Theory, and Showtime’s Dexter will have to find other ways to enjoy new episodes. It’s unclear when the channels will return to subscribers.
