Benghazi bombshell reports allege the CIA was, or is, funneling missiles to Syrian rebels as a new twist to the Benghazi scandal .
As previously reported by The Inquisitr, the Benghazi bombshell is a CIA scandal of its own that is already being politicized.
The original Benghazi scandal began when internal security at Benghazi was reduced from 34 people to just three by the State Department. Instead, groups known to be tied to al Qaeda terrorists were hired to guard the Benghazi consulate . These terror-linked guards abandoned Benghazi shortly before the attack. The State Department and the White House changed the Benghazi talking points significantly before the attack was announced to the public, causing some to claim the Benghazi scandal should impeach Obama since it’s claimed the actions were taken for political reasons.
Benghazi Bombshell A New Scandal?
Benghazi was supposedly just a diplomatic facility with foreign service personnel, a visiting ambassador, three American guards, and no overwhelming CIA presence. After the Benghazi attacks took place a CIA annex to the consulate containing 20 or 21 CIA agents was unveiled, far outnumbering the seven consulate staff who were rescued. CNN claims CIA agents are being subjected to an unusually large number of polygraph tests to make sure that they’re not talking about the Benghazi bombshell.
Charlene Lamb confirmed the existence of the CIA annex in her testimony even though the Benghazi investigation officials immediately required this discovery to be stricken from the record. Paula Broadwell, the mistress of David Petraeus when he was CIA director, claimed the CIA annex was holding terrorists prisoner so the Benghazi attack was a rescue effort.
But that’s not the Benghazi bombshell . Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told Congress that the CIA was leading a “concerted effort to try to track down and find and recover… MANPADS [man-portable air defense systems],” which included 400 tons of weapons from former Libyan ruler Muammar Qaddafi. Ambassador Stevens was allegedly in Benghazi “to negotiate a weapons transfer in an effort to get SA-7 missiles out of the hands of Libya-based extremists.” The Benghazi bombshell scandal alleges the CIA annex was operating in Benghazi to move the missiles out of Libya and into the hands of Syrian rebels. Since the time of the Benghazi attack, reports claims Syrian rebels have been spotted shooting down aircraft with SA-7 missile launchers.
Why is this revelation a Benghazi bombshell? Some people claim the Obama Administration violated the War Powers Resolution with the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi. The United States was officially only offering medical and communications aid to the Syrian rebels at the time of the Benghazi attacks. Congress only recently allowed Obama to arm the Syrian rebels with the stipulation to limit the Syrian rebels to “small weapons” like rifles and anti-tank weapons. Even though this idea is based upon speculation, for CIA agents to be secretly giving the Syrian rebels up to 400 tons of high end weapons would be quite a Benghazi bombshell and would explain the Benghazi coverup by the Obama administration and the State Department.
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) speculated about the alleged Benghazi bombshell back in May of this year:
“I’ve actually always suspected that, although I have no evidence, that maybe we were facilitating arms leaving Libya going through Turkey into Syria…. Were they trying to obscure that there was an arms operation going on at the CIA annex? I’m not sure exactly what was going on, but I think questions ought to be asked and answered.”
The CIA is alleged to be steering weapons to Syria from Turkey , which is relatively close to the Benghazi CIA annex. If this new Benghazi scandal is true, this would make the Benghazi bombshell similar to Oliver North and the Iran-Contra scandal , where a Reagan White House aide helped funnel weapons to Contra rebels without the authorization of Congress.
What do you think about the Benghazi bombshell alleging the CIA was funneling missiles and other weapons to Syrian rebels before Congress authorized any action?
