Prospect Heights, IL — A 14-year-old boy who hired an alleged prostitute for an evening of entertainment instead wound up with a face full of pepper spray and without his piggy bank and his iPad according to local law enforcement authorities.
Using the iPad, the home-alone teen hired the prostitute over the internet on what was presumably not a family-friendly website. When the hooker showed up at his house in a Chicago suburb, they went immediately to his bedroom, and she told him to take off his pants, according to prosecutors.
His parents were elsewhere while this was going down, needless to say.
The boy, who was sitting on his bed, was about to get very un-lucky because instead of getting busy, the alleged prostitute unleashed the pepper spray and made off with his piggy bank, the Apple tablet, an a jar full of an undetermined amount of money. He called 911 and gave the dispatcher a description of her vehicle.
The story has a happy ending, so to speak. Police recovered the tablet and the piggy bank. “Cops ‘pinged” the iPad after [the suspect] turned it on, allowing them to track her to a motel in Elks Grove Village about 10 miles from the boy’s home.”
The suspect, identified as Dareka Brooks, 22, has been charged with one count of armed robbery, and as of yesterday was apparently being held at Cook County Jail on a $10,000 bond. She is due back in court on May 31.
Do you think the suspect is a Tom Cruise fan? “The case is reminiscent of the 1983 Tom Cruise film Risky Business in which an Illinois teenager is robbed by a prostitute when his parents are out of town.” Rebecca De Mornay portrayed Lana, the prostitute, in the movie.
Parent supervision may or may not have been an issue here. That being said, do you think the teen was more upset about losing his stuff or not sealing the deal with the prostitute whom he had hired?
