The Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter stretch goal for consoles has been reached, and the Mega Man successor is still aiming for the stars.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr , Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune has taken to Kickstarter to create a new game that almost completely mirrors his android hero’s adventures in every way. It has been said that Mighty No. 9 is basically Mega Man with a facelift, but if it works, there is no point in changing it.
Mighty No. 9 is about an android named Beck, and he has to save the world from eight robot bosses who were actually previous attempts at making him. His lady friend Call assists him on his harrowing quest to take down a maniacal evil scientist. Capcom is fully aware of this project and has no problem with it, probably being gracious after canceling Keiji Inafune’s latest Mega Man projects and possibly inspiring him to leave the company for greener pastures.
Mighty No. 9 ‘s Kickstarter stretch goals had included one which would see the game made for current-gen consoles, and that milestone has been blown away with time yet to spare. Keiji Inafune’s Mega Man successor is now heading to the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U, all thanks to your donations.
Further goals include putting the game on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and an online co-op mode called Beck and Call (cleverly named after the protagonists). Considering the game had already reached its first goal within 24 hours, the remaining two weeks should be more than enough to possibly have Keiji Inafune’s team run out of ideas for future stretch goals. You can help Mighty No. 9 be all it can be by clicking here and making at least a dollar donation.
Of course, even at $3 million plus, Mighty No. 9 would hardly be the most expensive game ever made. That honor goes to Grand Theft Auto 5 , which has been released today to much anticipation.
Who knows how far Keiji Inafune’s goals will take him and his team? The Mighty No. 9 Kickstarter stretch goals are getting pummeled on a regular basis.
