‘Grand Theft Auto V’ Delay: Rockstar Addresses Rumors

Following the announcement that Rockstar Games would be pushing back the release of Grand Theft Auto V until September – much to the disappointment of investors – rumors and speculation surfaced suggesting that the reason might be related to next-gen consoles .

In an update posted earlier today on Rockstar’s website , the company shot down the rumors, calling them nothing more than conspiracy theories. The only reason for the delay, Rockstar explains, is that the developers simply wanted to take the time needed to make the game as good as possible.

“To those of you saying or seeing various conspiracy theories about there being some other ulterior motive for this delay, rest assured that they’re all nonsense – literally the only reason we’ve delayed the release is because we want the game to be as good as it needs to be,” Rockstar wrote.

Much of the speculation stems from how close Grand Theft Auto V ‘s launch will be to the expected launch window of Sony or Microsoft’s next-generation consoles. Some, including analysts, figured that the delay was to bridge the gap for a multi-platform release on current and next-gen consoles.

Neither company has announced a new console, much less a release date, so this is only speculation.

Grand Theft Auto V was originally set to release around March. Despite the fact that the original intended release date isn’t that far off, Rockstar still has kept quiet about the game, with only a trickle of information and a batch of screenshots coming out in the last few months.

Fortunately, Rockstar says that gamers can expect many more details to come leading up to the September release.
