Arnold Schwarzenegger Confirms He Will Back In ‘Terminator 5’ Series Return

Arnold Schwarzenegger has confirmed he is coming back to doing — arguably, what he does best — and will reprise his iconic role in the Terminator movie series.

The astonishing news was revealed by film site Bleeding Cool after attending a London press junket for Schwarzenegger’s latest actioner, The Last Stand — a Mexican drug cartel thriller.

The site reports that the bodybuilder turned actor, then California governor, and now actor again, told the press he would be reprising his role in the upcoming Terminator movie.

As yet there is no official confirmation about his return, but seeing as the source is Schwarzenegger that’s about as solid as it gets.

The actor also said his movie future included Triplets and a forthcoming Conan picture, another big title from the Austrian’s past.

Schwarzenegger was linked to Terminator back in 2011 when Justin Lin ( The Fast and The Furious , Better Luck Tomorrow ) — then attached to direct — revealed he had been in discussion with the actor about returning.

Fast forward to 2013, and producer David Ellison’s recent hiring of Avatar co-producer Laeta Kalogridis and Drive Angry writer Patrick Lussier and now Schwarzenegger’s announcement, and things look more promising.

Schwarzenegger first appeared as the deadly T-800 cyborg in James Cameron’s 1984 The Terminator , followed by 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgement Day, then 2003’s Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines .

Perhaps wisely deciding to duck 2009’s Terminator Salvation , there is one elephant-in-the-room question for Schwarzenegger however.

Now 65, how will his demonstrable aging be handled in a film about an ageless machine, Hitfix asks? How indeed.
