A new Grand Theft Auto 5 media ban is in effect. Rockstar Games and Take Two Interactive are officially scouring the internet looking for any unauthorized videos, streams, pictures, or even social media accounts and removing them.
The crackdown is on, as the people behind Grand Theft Auto 5 are going after anyone leaking anything about the game that Rockstar didn’t authorize. Of course this means that all of those details that were leaked on the PS3 are probably gone from the internet by now if Rockstar themselves didn’t release them. The game about wanton crime and violence is now ironically the subject of legal smackdown.
Rockstar may not be coming after anyone with a lawsuit just yet, but the Grand Theft Auto 5 media ban is being used to ensure further details being leaked without their knowledge are eliminated as soon as they’re discovered. This does not include the recently released GTA 5 map recently reported by The Inquisitr , as that was an official document apparently released by a gamer who received the Brady Games strategy guide early.
Bans so far have effected a recently leaked video of an unedited sex scene from the game as well as YouTube videos of gameplay. Would-be leakers have been sent the following message:
“Pre-Release Footage: No pre-release leaked footage of any kind: Any posting of in-game footage from leaked copies of the game prior to its official release date will be taken down, regardless of how the game was obtained. This includes ‘early unboxing’ videos.”
Yes, even gamers who may have been lucky enough to get a copy of Grand Theft Auto 5 early and do an unboxing video before the game’s official release date should wait until the day it’s released to try posting those items. Otherwise, Rockstar’s people will have that video taken down.
Apparently after making the most expensive game in history, as previously reported by The Inquisitr , Rockstar is showing the internet who’s in charge with its Grand Theft Auto 5 media ban.
