Prince Harry of the British Monarchy recently confirmed that he has been dating Suits actor, Meghan Markle, and there have been rumors suggesting an upcoming wedding between the two.
Prince Harry revealed that he has indeed been dating Markle for a few months but the rumors of a wedding are not true. At least for now! The two seem to be serious about their relationship but it is still too early to tell whether it will end up in a magnificent royal wedding. Harry acknowledged that he was dating the 35-year-old actress in a statement released on Tuesday morning by Kensington Palace. The statement was issued on account of the negative comments and about Markle. In the statement, Prince Harry is defensive of his new found love interest following the harassment and abuse that Markle faced about a week ago.
“His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public—the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments,” highlights the statement.
The statement further adds that it has been quite a struggle trying to keep some defamatory stories from making it into the limelight. It also notes that Markle’s family has been having a hard time because the press has been bombarding them from all sides. It cited that Markle’s mother had trouble getting past the press into her house. Her ex-boyfriend and friends have been offered bribes in exchange for some dirt on Markle.

Prince Harry appealed to the public through the statement to give his girlfriend some degree of privacy. On the flip side, the statement officially confirmed that the two are in a serious relationship. Sources familiar with the matter stated that Harry was disappointed that news about their relationship was leaked to the tabloids. The sources also added that the British prince was angry because his girlfriend had been subjected to harassment due to her ethnicity. Markle’s mother is African-American while her father is white. He is also said to be worried about Markle’s safety since the press is all over her family.
“Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her,” explained the statement.
A reporter recently told Doria Ragland, Markle’s mother, that her daughter would go into the history books as the first mixed race woman to join the royal family if she married the Prince. Ragland did not respond to the comment. The topic has become quite controversial due to numerous reasons. Markle, who is slightly older than the British Prince is also a divorcee. The Royal family has a sort of zero tolerance on divorce so it means a marriage between Markle and the prince would be quite tricky. And of course there is the controversy around her ethnic background, which shouldn’t be a problem since it’s the 21 st century and racism should not be a problem.
More racist bullying from the press. What has happened to this country?. Frightening #MeghanMarkle https://t.co/aamSpQbfsD

According to Telegraph , a source close to Prince Harry revealed that Harry is worried that the intense media interest might have a negative impact on his relationship life. This is because he fears that any potential spouse might be repelled by the media spotlight. Prince Harry’s previous girlfriend Cressida Bonas did not like the media scrutiny that she experienced while she dated the prince. Markle faced scrutiny since the first time news broke that she was dating the prince. It thus makes sense that Prince Harry would be worried about the constant harassment that Markle is going through because he seems to really like her. There is thus no reason to dismiss the possibility of Prince Harry marrying Meghan Markle in the future.
