Brett Favre: Packers Want Retired Star Back In The Family

Brett Favre’s Packers locked up their franchise quarterback in Aaron Rodgers this offseason, and they would now like to bring back one of the greatest ever to take snaps behind center at Lambeau Field. It’s been almost five years since the Packers traded Favre to the New York Jets, but now the franchise is looking to reunite with their three-time NFL MVP.

Brett Favre’s return to Green Bay has been a slow process as he doesn’t have the best relationship with his successor Aaron Rodgers. The Packers’ front office believes Favre may have a change of heart, and they would love to bring him back to the team in some way.

During the team’s eighth-annual Tailgate Tour, Packers’ President and CEO Mark Murphy told FOXSportsWisconsin.com that “we want to have (Favre) back in the family.”

He may be onto something, as Favre has already rekindled his friendship with Aaron Rodgers as they presented an award together at the NFL Honors Show. Murphy believes that both sides are heading in the right direction, which could lead to Favre’s return to the Packers, though the team hasn’t announced where they would use him.

Bringing him back is the right move as it’s hard to picture the historical franchise without Brett Favre. Packers’ nation would also love to see his return, and, if CEO Mark Murphy has anything to do with it, they’ll get their chance.

“I thought he and Aaron jointly presenting the Comeback Player of the Year Award was a great first step,” Murphy said during the tour. “We’re hopeful to have (Favre) back in the fold and get him back involved in the organization soon.”

The Packers have already prepared to retire Favre’s number next season, and the 11-time Pro Bowl selection is expected to give a speech at frigid Lambeau. After 16 seasons in the green and gold, Favre lost any connection from the team after being traded when he came out of retirement, but it was only a matter of time before he found his way back home.

Do you believe it would be the right decision for the front office to bring Brett Favre back to the Packers?
