Joseph Gordon-Levitt’ s first film that he ever directed, the 24-minute-long Sparks , was selected for the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. Now, after only four years, the actor/filmmaker has been asked to host the 2013 Sundance Film Festival Awards Ceremony.
According to MovieLine.com , Gordon-Levitt is no stranger to Sundance. In his career, he has had already appeared in seven Sundance films post 3rd Rock from the Sun days including Mysterious Skin , Brick and (500) Days of Summer . Also, his online production company hitRECord installed an exhibit in Sundance’s New Frontier in 2010, followed by a live performance in 2012
Gordon-Levitt’s film, Don Jon’s Addiction , is also premiering at this years festival. The film stars Gordon-Levitt, Scarlett Johansson, and Julianne Moore. The festival describes the film as centering on “a selfish modern-day Don Juan attempts to change his ways.”
Last year, actress Parker Posey was positioned to host the awards show, but Sundance staff including festival Director John Cooper had to take over after she fell ill.
According to the Hollywood Reporter , the 2013 Sundance Film Festival jury members and competition have already been announced.
Tom Rothman, former co-chairman of Fox Filmed Entertainment, filmmaker Ed Burns, and Pulitzer Prize winner Wesley Morris are among those on the U.S. Dramatic Competition Jury.

The 2013 Sundance Film Festival is set to take place January 17 – 27 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden, and Sundance, Utah.
