Does Miranda Lambert Confess To Cheating On Blake Shelton In ‘Vice?’ Her Co-Songwriter Weighs In

Miranda Lambert’s new single “Vice” has many fans wondering whether it’s a confession that she cheated on Blake Shelton, and now one of her co-writers is speaking out about the song.

Miranda and Blake announced their divorce last July, and their split continues to be a hot topic more than a year later. They’ve both produced new music that may offer some insight into the demise of their marriage, but neither party has shared the entire story. This has led to a lot of rumors and wild speculation about what caused their split and whose fault it was, and fans have turned to analyzing the couple’s lyrics in search of clues.

As Bustle points out, a line in “Vice” could be interpreted as a cheating confession .

“Another vice, another call, another bed I shouldn’t crawl out of,” Lambert sings. “At 7 a.m, with shoes in my hand said I wouldn’t do it, but I did it again / And I know I’ll be back tomorrow night.”

However, it’s also possible that Miranda Lambert is singing about turning to her vices after her divorce in an attempt to numb the pain and loneliness she felt after losing Blake Shelton. During an interview with Taste of Country , one of Lambert’s co-songwriters, Josh Osborne, addressed the lyrics that have caused such a stir. However, he wouldn’t say whether they are an admission of infidelity.

“It’s written so much on the line of, it could be real, or it could be a character. And we purposely — and will continue to — leave that open to interpretation,” Osborne said. “It really is written from a point of view that I think is a relatable point of view. A lot of people struggle with things that are their weaknesses.”

Miranda Lambert may disagree with Osborne’s assessment of “Vice.” During an interview with Billboard , she suggested that her fans should take the song at face value.

“And I feel like when you listen to this song, there’s really nothing to read into. It says what it says,” Lambert revealed.

Lambert has made it clear that she will not shy away from addressing the tough stuff on her new album, including her divorce from Blake Shelton. According to the singer, listening to her songs will be like reading her journal.

“Every record I’ve ever made has been a reflection of where I am right then in my life, however old I am. And I’ve never held back at all,” Lambert said of her songwriting method. “But this time, with what I happened to be going through in my life, being honest was never really a choice. Everybody knew anyway. So I just said, I’m gonna journal it, and — good days and bad days — use it for my art.”

Osborne confirmed that Lambert didn’t hold anything back during their songwriting sessions. When they first started working together on music for her upcoming album, she immediately let him know that she was willing to address her pain and personal failings in her songs.

“To her credit — and honestly, I think this is why she is such an acclaimed and successful artist — she was just like, ‘Everything’s on the table.’”

Lambert’s ex-husband has also used their divorce as songwriting inspiration, and he’s talked about their split while promoting his new album, If I’m Honest.

Blake Shelton possibly dropped a hint that Lambert cheated while talking about his relationship with Gwen Stefani during an interview on Chelsea Handler’s Netflix show. As Rolling Stone reports, Shelton said that he and Stefani first became close when they discovered that they were “going through basically the same exact thing at the same time.” As the Inquisitr previously reported, Stefani divorced Gavin Rossdale after she discovered that he had cheated on her with one of their children’s nannies.

Fans will have to wait and see if Miranda Lambert drops more hints about what went down during her divorce from Blake Shelton when her untitled album drops later this year.
