Warner Bros. will reportedly release their upcoming Justice League movie in 2015, Comic Book Resources has revealed. Unless something goes absolutely haywire between now and then, the studio will begin lensing the epic motion picture sometime next year.
A number of rumors have sprung up around the Justice League movie as of late, particularly regarding the person or persons who would serve as the feature’s director. In addition to the Matrix trilogy masterminds the Wachowskis, Argo filmmaker Ben Affleck was once allegedly attached to the project.
According to the Los Angeles Times , Warner Bros. was extremely interested in having The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan produce the forthcoming Justice League movie. Since Nolan helped out on Zack Snyder’s Superman reboot Man of Steel , the studio was hoping the talented filmmaker would work some of his magic on this particular project. Unfortunately for executives, the Inception director wasn’t interested in the job.
Since Martin Campbell’s Green Lantern — which starred Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Mark Strong, and Peter Sarsgaard — wasn’t the box office success the studio had hoped it would be, adaptations for such properties as Wonder Woman and the Flash have languished in development. Those hoping that Warner Bros. would take a similar approach to Justice League that Marvel and Disney did to The Avengers are essentially preparing themselves for utter disappointment.
However, Warner Bros. may debut the latest version of Batman in the Justice League , a role that may be embodied by The Lone Ranger star Armie Hammer. Should the movie prove successful, other characters will be spun off into their own individual motion pictures. Needless to say, the studio has quite a lot riding on this property.
Justice League , the film that Warner Bros. is really hoping will reap the benefits of the current superhero craze, is expected to arrive in theaters in 2015. Are you looking forward to the movie?
