Proving that he has way more energy than anyone on the planet, Dwayne Johnson is set to star in the big-screen version of The Fall Guy .
The adaptation of the 80s TV series starring Lee Majors is currently in the works at WWE Studios. Charlie’s Angels and Terminator: Salvation director McG will step behind the camera for the project.
Although the project has been kicked around Hollywood for years, it would appear that it’s finally coming together. According to Variety , screenwriters Zack Stentz and Ashley Edward Miller got the ball rolling again thanks to the script they put together.
As of this writing, both Dwayne Johnson and McG are still in talks with WWE Studios and Hyde Park Entertainment about the project. Although it’s like that both guys will sign on for the project, things could call apart at the last second. It’s okay to be excited, but don’t get too worked up about it.
Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald, who own the rights to The Fall Guy , previously hooked up with DreamWorks to bring the adaptation to life. Casino Royale director Martin Campbell was attached to helm the feature. Instead of Dwayne Johnson, the studio was eyeing Nicholas Cage.
The Fall Guy ran on ABC between 1981 and 1986. The Six Million Dollar Man alum Lee Majors starred as a Hollywood stunt guy who moonlights as a bounty hunter. Instead of working alone on these dangerous jobs, he brought along a pretty young woman and his cousin for help.
It’s unclear when producers are hoping to get the big-screen version up and running. Johnson is currently hard at work on director Brett Ratner’s Hercules: The Thracian Wars . He’s also slated to start work on Fast and Furious 7 very soon. The adaptation of Lore is looming on the horizon as well.
