Kristen Stewart has a very simple reason for her crutches fashion moment at last night’s Oscars.
Although the sight of the actress was eerily reminiscent of Bella’s prom scenes in the first Twilight film, this time the story behind the crutches was far less fantastical than her ex-screen character’s.
According to Us Weekly , Stewart explained the mystery to Anne Hathaway, winner of the Best Supporting Actress award, when the pair met up backstage backstage just after the Les Miserables star’s victory.
“Oh no!” Hathaway said on seeing Stewart’s crutch.
“I know, I’m an idiot,” the 22-year-old replied, before adding, “But congratulations!”
“Please tell me you’re going on stage with those [crutches],” Hathaway said, The Associated Press reports. “Nope,” Stewart replied. “I’m gonna hobble.”
Reportedly, Hathaway then said: “Well, break a leg . . . Oops!” while Stewart explained that she cut her foot after stepping on glass.
“I just hope [the wound] doesn’t open up right now,” said the On The Road star.
Stewart’s manicurist Ashlie Johnson told Us Weekly , the actress “sliced her foot and everyone was worrying about would she wear heels or flats or one heel, crutches or no crutches,” adding, “she tried so many options, she was really a trouper.”
While hairstylist Danilo revealed:
“Kristen was nervous about her crutches so having her friends around playing music was just what she needed. We all were trying to make her feel better and her friends were trying to tell her she’d be fine, she has insecurities about being in front of people so today was even tougher.”
Despite the crutches, Stewart cut a pretty figure in a white lace Reem Acra gown, Jimmy Choo heels, and Fred Leighton jewelry.
The Focus , The Big Shoe actress co-presented a production design award with another ex- franchise veteran Daniel Radcliffe.
