Pete Burns, the lead singer of Dead or Alive, has died at age 57 of a massive coronary. The singer, known for his androgynous look, theatrical make-up, and a multitude of plastic surgeries, passed away on Sunday in London. His big hit “You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)” climbed the charts over 20 years ago, but it still sounds relevant as a dance song.
The transgender community has experienced several losses over the past few months or so, as last month , Alexis Arquette passed away, says the Inquisitr . At the time of Arquette’s death, she was surrounded by her siblings — Rosanna, David, and Patricia — and had full family support. Arquette had been ill for some time and knew she didn’t have much longer to live.

Last month, Burns appeared on television on the show Celebrity Botched Up Bodies , as he had gone under the knife many times. Burns says he had lost count of how many times.
“The number of surgeries I’ve has is probably 300. I hope when I’m 80 and I get to heaven, God doesn’t recognize me.”
Fans had reached out to Pete in hopes that he would stop having plastic surgery, as they thought that he was at risk, but he seemed obsessed with continually changing his look.
“Pete please stop now. #celebritybotchedupbodies,” one person wrote.
Another fan posted, “Love #peteburns but what has he done to himself #botchedupbodies.”

Pete Burns says that when he was thrust into the spotlight, he wanted to look his best, and that’s when the plastic surgery started.
“I had a broken nose. In the punk days somebody head butted me in Liverpool and it went over to one side. When you’re young, self-conscious and standing in front of a camera and the photographers are whispering, ‘Can we turn his head to the left?’ you think, ‘I’ll do something about it.’”
His first surgery — a nose job — got botched, and so he needed a second surgery to fix it. In the end, he had four nose jobs, cheek implants, and surgery to make his lips larger, which led to the worst botch job yet. His lips got infected, and in the end, he sued the doctor and won over $500,000.
People Magazine called Pete Burns “a true visionary,” as he had reinvented himself and his look many time. Burns had said that he was always a work in progress.
“I see myself as my own clay, and I was remodeling it,” he explained.
Burns published his autobiography , Freak Unique , in 2006, where he told the full story of his plastic surgery complications and his changing looks.
