Olympic gold medalist decathlete Bruce Jenner, now know as Caitlyn Jenner’s recently published memoir The Secrets of My Life, has come under controversy after her ex-wife, Kris Jenner, who she was married to before undergoing gender reassignment, strongly criticized the book and termed Caitlyn’s allegations as lies.
The 67-year-old reality star, Caitlyn Jenner’s new memoir is a revealing account of her life, her gender transition- from Bruce Jenner to Caitlyn Jenner, and her relation with her ex-wife Kris and daughters, the Kardashians. Besides her fall outs with her ex-wife and family, Jenner’s memoir also reveals how her previous wives were uncomfortable with her sexuality and how they ended the marriage when they saw her wearing women’s clothes.
The memoir also documents her relation with her daughters, Khloe and Kendall Jenner and reveals her relationship turmoil with them. Her sons Burt, Brandon, and Brody Jenner hated Caitlyn’s Vanity Fair cover , for which, her stepdaughter Kim Kardashian had given fashion advice, and where Caitlyn is seen posing in a cream-colored bustier.
In her memoir, Jenner complains about Kris Jenner, saying that she has tried to control her and her finances and provided her with very little autonomy. The Kardashians, however, reacted strongly against her book, calling it “Insane” and slammed her for “scapegoating” Kris.
The Secrets of My Life has surely made many others from the showbiz community uncomfortable. Jenner blames Ellen DeGeneres for “alienating her from the LGBTQ community” and accuses Ellen of deliberately distorting her comments on same-sex marriage when she had appeared on her 2015 show. Jenner also accuses her former wife of colluding with and of persuading Ellen DeGeneres. Jenner, however, maintains that distancing herself from the LGBTQ community was probably a good thing given her differences with many of them on several LGBTQ issues.
All of Caitlyn’s marriages failed after early days of happiness and in her book, she writes about all three of them. She also writes about other women in her life like her elder sister Pam, and her mother Esther. However, Caitlyn’s account of her ex-wife Kris Jenner is very compelling, readers suggest.
Jenner shared that she has always felt like a women all her life and that she has been crossdressing for years. She had set up a debit bank account under a secret name, which she used for buying women clothes and wigs. She also set aside a bedroom in her house for her collection of women’s clothing. As a kid, she would sneak into her mother’s closet and lipstick, the memoir reveals. Later, she would often visit Las Vegas because it was like an escape town for her where she could be in terms with her own female self and try out dresses.
“As Bruce, I always liked going to Vegas, not for the gambling or the garishness but because it was the best place of all to dress up, the only locale where you could do whatever you wanted and no one would notice.”
Among other interesting revelations, Caitlyn Jenner reveals that she felt she didn’t deserve the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. She also recollects some simpler and lighter moments like when she took her first wife Chrystie Crownover to McDonald’s for their wedding dinner or when she went through a screen test for the role of Superman, according to a to Cosmopolitan . She also confesses that she hated O. J. Simpson.
“He was the most narcissistic, egocentric, neediest asshole in the world of sports I had ever seen, and I had seen a lot of them.”
Jenner’s Memoir also clarifies that the rumours that Caitlyn regretted her decision to change her sex are “completely untrue” and suggests that she may have been the brains behind the show “Keeping up with the Kardashians.”
