The attack at Ariana Grande’s Manchester concert understandably left the world shaken and fearful of gathering in large crowds, which is exactly why former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher is now wary of performing live. While the Oasis singer addressed hopes that he would rejoin brother Noel Gallagher for the One Love Manchester Benefit Concert and even debuted new music for his fans, Liam admitted he’s still fearful of what may happen at future concerts. Gallagher recently addressed that fear and revealed what that might mean for his future as a solo artist and as a part of Oasis.
Liam Gallagher On An Oasis Reunion And The One Love Manchester Benefit Concert
While The Sun reports that Liam Gallagher is certain he has “unfinished business” with brother Noel Gallagher and Oasis, the singer is still on his own. Currently, Liam is still pursuing a solo career and has been playing in Manchester, where he reports that nerves have been frayed ever since the attack on the Ariana Grande concert.
Mr. Gallagher further explained that he had hoped to brighten moods with his solo concerts planned for the area, but says that atmosphere is still tense.
“There were a lot of nerves going around the place,” says the former Oasis frontman. “I just wanted to put on a good gig for the people that came out because going to gigs these days is dangerous.”
On the subject of live performances, there has been widespread fan interest for an Oasis reunion for some time. The mention of Grande’s “One Love” benefit concert seemed like the perfect opportunity for Noel and Liam to put their differences behind them and reform Oasis in keeping with the “One Love” theme. Unfortunately, the younger Gallagher brother says the timing is all wrong in light of his own concert plans.
“I’m up for it but I think we are playing in Germany so we are already booked but I would’ve loved to have done it,” said Liam Gallagher.
Liam Gallagher Releases “Wall Of Glass,” But Don’t Watch The Video Drunk
While Liam may be too busy to reunite with Noel Gallagher for the Manchester benefit, Rolling Stone reports there’s a good reason for his absence. While some fans might assume Liam is just looking for excuses to avoid Noel and their differences, the truth is that the 47-year-old Gallagher brother does have prior commitments, related to the solo artist’s newest album. In fact, Liam just dropped a new single, “Wall of Glass,” and an accompanying video.
“Wall of Glass” may have that distinctive Oasis sound, largely due to Liam’s unmistakable voice, but don’t be fooled. The new single is as different from past Oasis hits as Liam is different from Noel. For proof, pay closer attention to Liam’s voice and observe the snarl to his singing, or let the power chords vibrate right through you. Even the drums and harmonica create an angry, hostile sound rarely heard before from Liam, either as the Oasis frontman or as a hard rocking solo artist.
The music video for “Wall of Glass” is equally powerful, mesmerizing with images of glass walls, which takes one back to the days of classic funhouses with their halls of mirrors and the dizzying twist of dark tunnels. In the video, Gallagher uses these devices to create a powerful, if tumultuous, statement. Just don’t watch the video while drunk, or risk a case of vertigo that just won’t stop!
“Wall of Glass” is the first single from the new Liam Gallagher solo album, As You Were . Although Gallagher hasn’t shared an exact date, As You Were is expected to hit stores in October.
