Director Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 dropped a new TV spot during the Super Bowl on Sunday. To sweeten the deal, Marvel has released an “extended look” trailer online.
The 30-second spot shown during the Super Bowl finds Iron Man soaring through the skies as he attempts to save a handful of people who have been sucked out of an airplane. Before the clip is finished, viewers are instructed to pay a visit to the official Facebook page for an extended look at the upcoming sequel.
The online clip is far more compelling than the one shown during the Super Bowl. Instead of saving people from a freak airline accident, Iron Man squares off against his arch enemy, a villain known as The Mandarin. Judging from the clip, things aren’t looking too good for poor Tony Stark.
Marvel describes Iron Man 3 as follows:
“Marvel Studios’ ‘Iron Man 3’ pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?”
Both the Super Bowl spot and the extended look trailer have been embedded below.
Iron Man 3 stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, James Dale Badge, Jon Favreau, and Ashley Hamilton. The film is expected to arrive in theaters on May 3. Are you looking forward to the upcoming sequel?
