Katie Homles made her big debut this morning with her Holmes & Yang clothing line at New York Fashion Week.
There’s been plenty of hype surrounding Holmes’ debut. Not only because it’s Tom Cruise’s former wife but also because this is the first time she’s brought her clothing line to a major fashion show.
David Zyla, an Emmy Award-winning stylist, told Daily Markets :
“Every editor will be at the spring 2013 Holmes & Yang showing this September…. Katie’s divorce and the masterful manner in which she handled it is a shining light onto anything that she does at this moment.”
Holmes started the clothing line in 2009 with her stylist Jeanne Yang.
The website reads:
“Katie and Jeanne’s inspiration was born out of necessity; the designing duo was constantly looking for easy, timeless pieces that could carry them from day to night, casual to cocktail, work to weekend.”
The clothing line started with a very limited production run. But now that the brand is growing Holmes decided that it was time to head the NYFW.
The actress said:
“(We decided to go to NYFW) because the brand is growing and expanding … we thought we would have something a little more substantial. (It’s) a transition for us from meeting privately with buyers in a hotel room to going right to a big show.”
The reviews for Holmes & Yang’s New York Fashion Week debut aren’t in yet but several critics have been writing praise for the line on Twitter.
