The Avengers: Infinity War movie is using a collection of characters with the Russo Brothers at the helm of Part 1 . Part 2 is actually an untitled solo film set apart from the first, so there’s no telling how many of the characters will carry over. But focusing on Infinity War right now, the directing duo had talked with the Toronto Sun regarding their project.

How Did The Infinity War Crossover Buzz Start?
Some time ago, the Russo brothers discussed the heavy amount of characters in the upcoming flicks. They were cited as “ having a board ” with 67 of them. It was then later corrected to 68 , according to Cleveland . Recently, they had narrowed it down to 66, according to Joe Russo.
“We’ve actually narrowed it down to 66 at this point, so we’re making progress on that front.”
Lady Sif already appeared in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Coulson, played by Clark Gregg, crossed over from the dead agent to a Hollywood resurrected version. Clips from the Captain America sequel film played on the ABC show’s monitors, displaying the impact of HYDRA and their invasion of S.H.I.E.L.D.
That being said, Infinity War fan hopefuls are speculating whether or not Marvel Studios will continue this crossing over from the small to big screen. Would it not be awesome to bring on Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist to battle Thanos as they team up as The Defenders? Would you not go nuts if they came swooping in with the rest of them?
In the comics there was a mighty handful so why not equate the Infinity Gauntlet event to an epic cinematic event?
The Defenders Crossing Over Hasn’t Been Ruled Out
The Russo brothers spoke with the Toronto Sun regarding a Netflix character crossover in Infinity War . They hadn’t ruled this out as a possibility. Anthony Russo gives his take.
“We do consider everyone… We don’t want to get too specific about what’s going to happen with these movies. We want these movies to be a surprise for audiences.”
However, the Infinity War — Part 1 director described the complexities involving including The Defenders in the MCU at a Brazilian Comic-Con in Sao Paulo. The “serialized” storytelling can get complicated, and though everything may be under the same Marvel umbrella, other aspects have to go through different channels to get accomplished. Then it gets into the ownership of characters outside of the studios like Fox and Sony. That’s where it can get real tricky.
Marvel Studios And Fox Talks Rumored
Now with Spider-Man allowed on the Marvel Studios big screen, will Fox join the Avengers in Infinity War — Part 1 ? According to sources of Matt Key’s, producer of Kevin Smith and Marc Bernardin’s Fatman on Batman , rumor has it that 20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios have talked about Fox’s interest. He revealed this on Collider Heroes .
“I’ve heard from a few of my sources, my little birds, that Fox and Marvel have … kind of talked, but not really, but like there’s interest from Fox, like, ‘Ooh, y’know, what they did with Sony and Spider-Man is actually pretty cool, like, maybe …’ We’re years away from that ever possibly happening … but I think that’s what it would take … Fox joining hands with Marvel.”

Captain Marvel Confirmed For Infinity War?
The Russo brothers continued their interview, and the Toronto Sun has seen this conversation as a confirmation that Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel will be in Avengers: Infinity War . Joe Russo gave his statement, giving praise to Larson.
“It’s an incredible piece of casting. You couldn’t ask for better. Not only is she an amazingly talented actor but she’s a wonderful human being. We’re really looking forward to the opportunity of re-teaming with her … if we were to get the chance to work with that character.”
It looks like the publication saw a coy mannerism on the part of the Russos’ response as a confirmation — a coyness that kind of mirrors what they’ve said historically about bringing Spider-Man on board Captain America: Civil War by the way of Sony. So, it would seem the Toronto Sun had interpreted the pattern and went from there.
“Captain Marvel in Infinity War : confirmed!”
Think this coyness will carry over come Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 when it releases May 4, 2018?
