With titles like The Witch , Don’t Breathe, and Hush , some of the best horror movies have come out in 2016. But there are still a few horror movies set to be released in 2016, so we may have yet to see the best that this year has to offer. And as 2016 comes closer to an end, we are fully emerged in the holiday season; and there are plenty of horror movies to celebrate the festivities with.
Horror Movies 2016 Coming Soon
Incarnate (December 2, 2016)
Though the “exorcism” subgenre of horror movies has been done to death, there are a few gems that pop-up from time to time; Incarnate could be one of those gems. Aaron Eckhart plays an exorcist who enters a possessed boy’s unconscious mind to confront the demon inhabiting him. The story is more unique than other exorcism movies, and Eckhart always gives a great performance; so Incarnate could end up being very cerebral, visually stunning, and hopefully, scary.

Friend Request (December 9, 2016)
More and more, horror movies like The Den are incorporating modern technology into their plots. Friend Request is joining that group by featuring a movie centered on Facebook. When a popular college girl (Marina) becomes friends with a mysterious girl on Facebook, Marina’s closest friends start dying one by one. Timeout describes why this could be one of the most entertaining and fun horror movies of 2016 .
“[It’s] the kind of horror movie you probably watched at a sleepover as a teenager. It’s scary, a bit cheesy and bang on the zeitgeist…The death scenes are genuinely hide-behind-your-sleeve terrifying, but each one of Laura’s pals is so self-absorbed that you’ll joyously embrace their gory fate. Plus, the film has a whole other level of (potentially unintended) humour thanks to cheesetastic lines like ‘Unfriend that dead b***h!’”
The Autopsy of Jane Doe (December 21, 2016)
With an impressive score of 86 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, the site provides the premise of what could be one of the best horror movies of 2016 .
“Experienced coroner Tommy Tilden and his grown-up son Austin run a family-owned morgue and crematorium in Virginia. When the local Sheriff brings in an emergency case — an unknown female corpse nicknamed ‘Jane Doe’ — perfectly preserved on the outside, Jane Doe’s insides have been scarred, charred and dismembered — seemingly the victim of a horrific yet mysterious ritualistic torture. As Tommy and Austin begin to piece together these gruesome discoveries, an unnatural force takes hold of the crematorium. While a violent storm rages above ground, it seems the real horrors lie on the inside.”
