Producers behind the proposed Justice League movie will be keeping a close eye on Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel when it opens in theaters this summer.
Warner Bros. decision to move forward with the Justice League flick is hinged on how well the latest Superman flick movie performs at the box office. According to Cinema Blend , the film may not happen if Man of Steel proves to be cinematic Kryptonite.
Should the Superman reboot fail to make the studio any money, chances are executives won’t be too eager to drop any money on the Justice League movie. Fans who are hoping Warner Bros. moves forward with the picture might want to start crossing fingers and toes right now.
Variety reports that the studio has had some trouble making money from its partnership with DC. Although Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy was a huge hit, Warner’s Green Lantern adaptation failed to find a foothold at the box office.
Although a lot is riding on the success of the latest Superman adventure, chances are moviegoers will turn out to see what all the fuss is about this summer. Zack Snyder’s upcoming effort has received quite a bit of attention from fanboy and mainstream movie websites. Unless something goes wrong between now and then, Man of Steel is set to do some serious business.
The official plot synopsis for Snyder’s flick reads as follows:
“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha and Jonathan Kent, Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as ‘Superman,’ not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.”
Man of Steel starring Henry Cavill, Russell Crowe, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, and Michael Shannon hits theaters on June 14.
