Ryan Braun On MLB Probe: ‘I Have Nothing To Hide’, Faces Suspension

Suspicions abound surrounding Milwaukee Brewers’ Ryan Braun’s vague answers in connection with Major League Baseball’s (MLB) probe into his connection to Tony Bosch and the Biogenesis clinic in Miami, sources told Outside the Lines .

Braun met with league officials on June 29, a source said, and is one of several that MLB has conducted with players connected to the clinic. A source said New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez has not been interviewed, but a meeting is expected to take place within the week.

According to reports Braun declined to answer questions posed by investigators and replied with a vague, “I have nothing to hide” which officials are not convinced with.

Ryan Braun came under suspicion of using illegal enhancing drugs more than a year and a half ago, at which time he also refused to answer questions.

ESPN.com first reported of the Milwaukee player refusal to talk on Tuesday. The MLB Players Association doesn’t want anyone saying anything, especially after Bosch, his associate Porter Fischer and others have agreed to cooperating with MLB.

A source close to the case says A-Rod will meet with officials on Friday, but will likely refuse to answer questions as have Braun and 10 other players who are being sought in the investigation.

Commissioner Bud Selig’s office is expected to suspend Ryan Braun, Rodriguez, and as many as 20 players sometime after next week’s All-Star break, due to their roles in the Biogenesis case, several sources told Outside the Lines .

The length of the suspensions could be 100 games, which is usually reserved for second offenses. The commissioner’s office argues that even though the players were not previously convicted they committed multiple offenses by receiving performance-enhancing drugs from Bosch and by lying about it.

Representatives for Braun could not be reached, but Rodriguez commented,

“We’ve been fully instructed to not comment on that case,” but he added, “There’s a lot of players involved, I know that.”

What do you think will happen with the MLB investigation regarding Ryan Braun and others?
