WWE Rumors: Rusev Possibly Lining Up As Brock Lesnar’s Next Opponent

At the Survivor Series , Goldberg shocked the world when he beat Brock Lesnar in under two minutes. With that squash win over the former unbeatable WWE star, the big question is what comes next for Lesnar. Based on a Twitter jab by a WWE heel, one possible match might see the Beast Incarnate battle Rusev.

Rusev is often hilarious and brilliant on Twitter . This comment came two weeks after Goldberg took out Rusev before his match with Brock at Survivor Series . The Rusev response wasn’t even the first tweet following the Goldberg squash win at Survivor Series . Lana, the manager, and wife of Rusev, also went to Twitter to give her thoughts on the match .

“Well @HeymanHustle guess your client @BrockLesnar underestimated GoldBerg. oh well, maybe in 12 years you can try again.”

In an editorial for SB Nation , writer James Dator had a great look at the match and what the squash could mean for the WWE and Brock in general. In the editorial, Dator mentioned that this could be huge for whoever steps up to fight Brock in the future.

“Having Lesnar lose now takes the pressure off whoever was going to be the guy to beat Lesnar. Whether it was Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens or whoever. Those considerable talents would have been crushed under the weight of expectation that comes with beating a man-made-myth like WWE created with Brock Lesnar. Now the company is free.”

While that is a nice thought and will surely help someone down the line, that person likely won’t be Rusev. Yes, Rusev is a possibility to fight Lesnar in the Beast’s next feud, but he won’t win. Rusev is damaged goods and isn’t a viable contender to really anyone anymore. Rusev is a mid-card talent who will hold mid-card titles, but the WWE have ruined the mystique of Rusev as the Bulgarian monster.

However, when the possible Brock vs. Rusev feud ends, someone else will step up. At this year’s WrestleMania event, Dean Ambrose had a chance to become a huge star against him but Brock was still unbeatable at this time, and he just beat Ambrose cleanly and easily, as most people expected.

Now, with Brock Lesnar losing quickly, there will be young talent crawling out of the woodwork hoping to be the next one to beat Brock. Rusev won’t be that man, but names like Kevin Owens, Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura, and others are always on the dream lists of WWE fans wanting to see someone beat the Beast.

RELATED WWE REPORTS BY THE INQUISITR

There is little chance of seeing Brock Lesnar again until the Royal Rumble , although Goldberg is expected to be at WWE Monday Night Raw tonight to discuss his win and his future. WrestleZone reported that Goldberg signed a deal with the WWE to take part in the Royal Rumble match in January.

Many WWE fans expected to see Brock in a singles match at the Royal Rumble , but with Goldberg appearing in the Rumble itself, there is a good chance that Brock is in his second consecutive Rumble match. Rusev should also be in that match, which could cause some fun storyline events to take place.

Of course, if this all leads to Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg 3 at WrestleMania next year, this all might be for naught. Someone young has a chance to beat Brock now to capitalize on the now vulnerable former WWE and UFC champion. If not Rusev, then the WWE might want to give someone else a chance.
