Ryan Reynolds recently shared a few details about the proposed Deadpool movie.
Fans of the Merc with a Mouth are still hoping the boys and girls at 20th Century Fox will get this project up and running at some point in the near future.
For the moment, it’s still painfully unclear if the movie will ever happen.
Coming Soon reports that the Deadpool movie is still very much a possibility. It also appears that Ryan Reynolds is still attached to star in the movie.
During a recent chat with the folks at Total Film , the R.I.P.D. star dropped a few hints about the project. Although the actor will likely star in the film, even he isn’t sure when the movie will find its way into theaters.
“That movie is alive and kicking, and then it’s dead as a doornail. Then it’s alive and kicking and then it’s dead … it’s like the worst relationship I’ve ever had!” Reynolds said.
Should the adaptation actually come to fruition, Reynolds said moviegoers can expect a completely self-aware experience. This version of Deadpool will understand that he’s living inside a Hollywood motion picture. He’ll also be aware of director Gavin Hood’s 2009 movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine .
The actor said:
The character knows he’s a comic-book character, he knows he’s in a film, he knows who the executives are at the studio making the movie. In the current iteration of the script, Deadpool is aware of the Wolverine movie. He doesn’t say anything disparaging about it but he does at one point play with the Deadpool action figure with some curiosity.
Reports suggest that director Tim Miller has been tapped to bring the Deadpool movie to life. Zombieland scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will tackle scripting duties on the project. Unfortunately, it’s unknown if this thing is actually going to happen.
While you’re waiting for this project to come together, you can catch Reynolds in the upcoming sci-fi comedy R.I.P.D. . The flick hits theaters on July 19. When you’re watching the trailer embedded below, pretend the Men in Black movies don’t exist.
Are you a fan of Ryan Reynolds? Do you think the world will ever see a standalone Deadpool movie?
