Riding a career high at the moment, Hugh Jackman gave in to his inner “Gangnam Style” on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Thursday.
Currently on the promotion trail for the highly anticipated Les Misérables , Jackman imitated internet sensation PSY’s dance moves while Leno attempted to join in.
The bizarre but funny segue happened when Jackman told Leno that PSY himself had taught him the “Gangnam Style” moves, back when he was filming the upcoming Wolverine in Sydney.
With the poster for Twentieth Century Fox’s Wolverine released on Friday and award nominations piling up for Les Misérables , Jackman’s star has literally never been brighter.
On Thursday, the 44-year-old actor received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Introduced by Leno and cheered on by his wife, Deborra-Lee Furness and their two children, Oscar and Ava, Jackman looked delighted as he posed on the Hollywood Boulevard with his Les Misérables co-stars — Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried.
It was a busy Thursday. That day, Jackman also received a Golden Globe nomination for “Best Performance By An Actor In A Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy.”
Earlier in the week the actor scored a Screen Actor’s Guild award nomination for “Outstanding Lead Actor” as well as Critics’ Choice award nomination for “Best Actor” for his role as Jean Valjean in Les Mis érables .
And it seems the recognition is something this Tony award winning actor doesn’t mind one bit. In a recent Associated Press interview, when asked how he felt going into awards season, Jackman said :
“Being a lover of musical theater, the thought that maybe there is some recognition for the film and therefore the genre, that maybe Tom has found a new way to deliver the genre, to make it feel relevant and immediate — that’s exciting. Now it’s selfish, but I would like to be in some more.”
Tom Hooper’s Les Misérables hits theaters December 25, James Mangold’s Wolverine opens July 26, 2013.
