Aaron Hernandez’s fiancee called 911 when the former New England Patriots star smashed his fist through a window and was bleeding profusely.
Shayanna Jenkins told the dispatcher that the couple were arguing and that “[Hernandez] is losing a lot of blood… he cut himself.”
The incident happened when they were living in Hermosa Beach, Calif. in the Los Angeles area in the March-April time frame when Hernandez was recuperating from a football injury. The tape of the 911 call — which features a contentious exchange between Jenkins and the dispatcher who seemed to require an inordinate amount of information — was obtained by TMZ .
According to the CBS News Los Angeles affiliate, Hernandez and his fiancee quarreled a lot, and police were called to the rental home — which was the scene of loud, late-night parties — at least twice for alleged domestic disturbances.
TMZ reports that the dispute that led to the wrist/fist injury started when Jenkins “tried to pull the plug on a party he was throwing with his friends.”
The Hermosa Beach Patch indicated that first responders resolved the situation upon arrival at the residence: “The incident was closed at 8:31 p.m., reporting that the Fire Department checked out and gave the 23-year-old Hernandez options for assistance and that Jenkins was not making a claim of domestic violence. She said Hernandez had been mad about ‘something else.’”
Aaron Hernandez has been charged with murder and firearms violations in connection with the death of his friend Odin Lloyd, a semi-pro football player whose body was found in an industrial park near the NFL star’s home in North Attleboro, Mass., on June 17. He is currently being held without bail and has pleaded not guilty to all charges. Hernandez is also reportedly under a separate criminal investigation for a 2012 drive-by double homicide in Boston last year. The ex-Pats tight end is also being sued in civil court for personal injuries for allegedly shooting a man in Florida after they argued in a Miami strip club.
