WWE News: Triple H Hints At Who Is Next In Line For NXT Wrestling Championship

NXT Wrestling saw two huge title changes at the NXT TakeOver: Toronto event on the WWE Network on Saturday night. First up, the tag team of #DIY beat The Revival for the tag team titles and then Samoa Joe became the first ever two-time NXT wrestling champion when he beat Shinsuke Nakamura for the title.

In a Facebook chat after the show, 411mania reported that Triple H hinted at who might be next in line for the NXT wrestling championship. He started out by pointing out Bobby Roode’s win over Tye Dillinger and said that he is likely headed straight for the NXT wrestling title after that win. However, Triple H also said that the feud between Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura is not yet over with.

The best bet right now is for Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe to continue their feud. If Shinsuke is on his way to the main WWE roster, the two might have one more big match before Nakamura leaves NXT wrestling.

The next three NXT TakeOver events that are scheduled will take place before WrestleMania on April 1 in Orlando, before SummerSlam on Aug. 19 in Brooklyn, and before the Survivor Series on Nov. 18 in Houston. However, the rematch between Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura will probably take place on Dec. 3 at the sold-out NXT Live: Osaka show in Japan.

Whoever holds the NXT wrestling title after that show will likely head into a feud with Bobby Roode if Triple H is to be believed. It makes more sense for Roode to feud with Shinsuke since Roode is a perfect heel and Samoa Joe is pretty much unredeemable right now.

However, flipping the NXT title after just three weeks is not something the company is known for. There is little chance to turn Samoa Joe face after the vicious things he did to Shinsuke during their feud, but the fans still love to cheer Bobby Roode, even when he is a villain. A heel vs. heel match is possible.

NXT TakeOver: Toronto was a huge success and much of it was thanks to the hard work and great wrestling by guys like Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura, Bobby Roode, Tye Dillinger, and others like The Revival and #DIY. Forbes reported that #NXTTakeOverToronto was the number one trending topic on Twitter for most of the night.

These guys deserve a chance on the main roster and the thought is that whoever loses the Samoa Joe vs. Shinsuke Nakamura rematch will head to WWE Monday Night Raw or SmackDown Live . Both men are ready for the big time, so the question comes down to who the WWE believes is needed to carry the load for NXT wrestling.

Bobby Roode has proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he belongs on the main roster but he has a little longer to go. As Triple H said, his next step is the NXT wrestling title. It should still be a matter of time before Bobby Roode is “Glorious” on either Raw or SmackDown .

The Revival are also likely headed to the main roster. After losing their titles to #DIY, The Revival are likely to lose a rematch similar to what American Alpha did and then join their former enemies on the main roster, possibly as soon as the New Year.

Mickey James is also someone who might be showing up on Raw or SmackDown Live . Triple H said that James’ future in the WWE is completely up to her, making it sound like she is welcome to return after losing to the NXT wrestling women’s champion Asuka.
