Fans of Fifty Shades of Grey will have to wait a little bit longer for an official announcement on the film adaptation’s cast. Though casting rumors have been heating up lately, author E.L. James said that the film’s cast won’t be revealed at Comic-Con this year.
Rumors have been circulating since last week that the Fifty Shades of Grey movie cast will be revealed at this year’s Comic-Con, and fans have been speculating as to who has been chosen to play the leads .
Frontrunners for the role of Christian Grey include Ian Somerhalder and Henry Cavill, while the favorite for the role of Anastasia Steele is currently Alexis Bledel.
But James, who wrote the Fifty Shades trilogy on which the upcoming film is based, took to Twitter to clear up the rumors that Fifty Shades of Grey movie cast news would go public at Comic-Con this year.
The book was released in 2011, and has been scheduled to hit theaters on August 1, 2014. Despite the firm progress being made on the film, casting has oddly been side-lined, causing some concern. Many front-runners for the film have openly denied their involvement and interest, mostly due to the novel’s subject matter.
I dunno where this rumour started that the cast would be revealed at Comic Con…but it is just that – a rumour. (Sighs)
