JaMarcus Russell hasn’t signed a contract to play in the NFL this year but he has managed to squeeze another $3 million out of his old contract with the Oakland Raiders.

According to Vic Tafur at the San Francisco Chronicle , Russell and the Raiders have settled their contract dispute and the Raiders will now be paying Russell about $3 million in “the next couple of weeks.”

The Raiders have already reportedly paid Russell $36.4 million for a few miserable NFL season.

Russell was drafted with the No.1 pick in 2007 and landed a huge contract with the Raiders. Russell played three seasons with the Raiders (his last game was on Jan. 3, 2010) where he recorded a little over 4,000 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions. The former No.1 pick was released before the start of the 2010 season and hasn’t played in the NFL since.

The Oakland Raiders filed a grievance against Russell after his release asking him to return $9.55 million to the organization. Russell filed a counter-grievance claiming that he was still owed money at the time of his release.

The contract dispute has now been settled. The Oakland Raiders have reportedly agreed to pay Jamarcuss Russell another $3 million.

Russell is attempting to make a comeback but he hasn’t found a team ready to give him a chance just yet.  The Oakland Raiders lost big time when they drafted JaMarcus Russell and it could be difficult to convince another NFL team to put Russell on the roster .

Do you think Jamarcus Russell will successfully complete his NFL comeback?
