New mother Lily Allen took to her Twitter account to register her disgust with the NHS yesterday after a midwife failed to attend a check up for her second child.
The singer was worried about the health of her daughter, Marnie Rose, who was born last Tuesday. She tweeted, “After speaking to the Brent midwifery team at 7 this morning, I was told to stay in all day and someone would be over to weigh my baby and do a jaundice assessment.”
She then added the worrying, “Waited all day, and nothing, not even a phone call.” The 27 year-old then also stated that Marnie hadn’t even been through the routine heel prick blood test.
Allen went on to note, “I know it’s not the midwives’ fault but surely we can do better than this.” This isn’t the first occasion when Allen has butted heads with the NHS this week.
On Saturday, Lily was angered that she hadn’t been informed which midwifery team was looking after her in North West London.
“Hi there, can’t seem to find out which hospital’s community midwifery team are coming to see me,” wrote Allen , who was contacting the NHS Direct service via her Twitter account. “Discharged Weds morning!!!! … I’m starting to worry now, and no one answers the phone, or if they do, i just keep getting passed around. Let me know if you can.”
The “Smile” singer is the mother to another daughter, Ethel, who is aged 18 months. The father of both children is Allen’s husband, Sam Cooper.
