The Apple iWatch took a step closer to hitting the stores yesterday as Apple inc. applies for a trademark in Japan and other countries. The company wants to hit the wearables market and is taking bold steps to get their new product to eager consumers.

The iWatch is currently slated to have over a hundred designers working on it, and the recent registering of the iWatch in Japan has caused a massive buzz among technology enthusiasts from far and wide.

The revolutionary Apple iwatch will be designed to pair seamlessly with the user’s iPhone and iPad, with the ability to display information, notifications and to work with voice activation through Siri.

Apple’s CEO Tom Cook, spoke back in May at a technology conference about the upcoming Apple iwatch:

“There are lots of gadgets in this space right now, but there’s nothing great out there. But none of them are going to convince a kid that hasn’t worn glasses or a band to wear one. There are a lot of problems to solve in this space. It’s ripe for exploration.”

It is thought that Samsung will compete with the iWatch as it designs its own consumer friendly smartwatch . Sony are also in on the game as it announced its latest Android run watch.

Will you be getting yourself an Apple iWatch when it hits the market? Do you think it will offer a user friendly interface and will people favor it over their smartphones? And what about the Samsung and Sony smartwatches? Will they be a big threat to Apple? Sound off in the comments below.
