The Coen Brothers have taken us on many cinematic adventures. This year it looks like they have another unique world for what is said to be one of the best films of the year with Inside Llewyn Davis .
Inside Llewyn Davis stars newcomer Oscar Isaac, as a folk singer trying to break into the industry. The Coen Brothers take the viewer this time around into the dive bars, and on the road with a down on his luck musician, and his stray orange cat he just happened to find and keep because he didn’t know what else to do with it.
While the scene stealer seems to be the orange cat, from the new trailer it’s obvious to see that the folk music is a huge character for the film. Setting a tone for the new trailer is “Fare Thee Well (Dink’s Song)” sung by Oscar Isaac and Marcus Mumford of Mumford and Sons.
Inside Llewyn Davis made its debut at Cannes Film Festival to rave reviews. The Hollywood Reporter called the film: “a gorgeously made character study leavened with surrealistic dimensions both comic and dark, an unsparing look at a young man who, unlike some of his contemporaries, can’t transcend his abundant character flaws and remake himself as someone else.”
About the film , Oscar Isaac said:
“Being celebrated for playing someone who wasn’t. Llewyn is like the Jesus character who had to be sacrificed for our sins. I get quite emotional about it. It’s hard not sounding like a douchebag because it’s like: ‘Oh, I’ve been so successful for those poor people that haven’t.’ But I know those people; it could have easily just gone the other way for me too.”
Inside Llewyn Davis also stars Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund, Ethan Phillips, and Adam Driver.
