JonBenet Ramsey’s Older Brother Finally Speaks Out About Her Murder

Published on: August 31, 2016 at 1:39 PM

It’s been 20 years since the mysterious murder of JonBenet Ramsey, and for the first time, Burke Ramsey, JonBenet’s older brother, will speak out to Dr. Phil about what he remembers from the last night he saw her alive.

Only JonBenet, Burke, John, and Patsy Ramsey were home on the night that JonBenet went missing in Boulder, Colorado, and she later reappeared dead in the family basement. Parents John and Patsy Ramsey spoke to the press and were often quoted about the loss of their youngest child, but Burke Ramsey was shielded. Now, Burke Ramsey has the chance to tell Dr. Phil what he remembers and how it feels to be suspected of killing your younger sister.

In a three-part series, Burke Ramsey will appear on Dr. Phil to open up about that Christmas long ago when his family’s world was turned upside down after JonBenet died . The Ramsey parents, John and Patricia, who has since passed, hid Burke from the spotlight because tabloids published stories for years that he was involved in JonBenet’s death. The Ramsey’s sued two tabloids and settled for unspecified amounts. DNA testing proved that Burke had nothing to do with the crime.

Burke Ramsey says that it has been difficult to be known as someone suspected of killing his sister, JonBenet Ramsey

While speaking to Dr. Phil 20 years after the crime, he says, “I know people think I did it; that my parents did it. I know that we were suspects.”

Burke, now 29, was 9-years-old when the crime was committed. His interview will begin on September 12 on Dr. Phil .

Dr. Phil will not just be throwing softball questions at Burke Ramsey after all of these years. Dr. Phil will ask Burke Ramsey if he believes that his parents ever suspected him in the death of JonBenet.

“Has it ever occurred to you that your parents actually thought you did this and didn’t ask you because they didn’t want to know?”

Burke will also explain what it was like to attend the funeral and viewing.

“I remember the viewing. The casket was small. Her eyes were closed.”

Burke Ramsey says that he remembers that life clearly even though he was not even 10-years-old. Since his mother has died, it is painful to think of her at that time.

“I remember my mom searching my room that night saying, ‘Where’s my baby? Where’s my baby?’”

Burke says that on that day, he was interrogated at length about what happened to JonBenet and wished he could supply the police with answers, but he knew nothing. He also says that it was difficult being under suspicion and knowing that the whole family was under investigation for all of those years before being vindicated by DNA testing.

Burke will also be asked about the pedophile with the sick obsession with JonBenet Ramsey who claimed he had committed the crime. John Mark Karr, now 51, confessed that he kept a diary about his feelings for JonBenet Ramsey and that she died accidentally while they were playing sex games in the Ramsey basement. Carr’s sick fantasies were found to be just that, as the evidence never matched up, and Karr could not be tied in any way to JonBenet.

Two other child predators have come under suspicion since, including Gary Howard Oliva, who told friends he did something terrible at that time to a child, and Michael Helgoth, who spoke in detail of JonBenet’s death before his suicide in 1997.

Do you think that anything new will be revealed in the JonBenet Ramsey case?
