Lance Armstrong is expected to admit that he was doping during his cycling career when he sits down with Oprah Winfrey later this week and according to a new report, the disgraced cyclist has already apologized to the Livestrong staff.
According to the Washington Post , Armstrong talked to about 100 Livestrong Foundation staffers at the company’s headquarters in Austin, Texas. It’s unclear what Armstrong said exactly but spokeswoman Katherine McLane said that Armstrong gave a “sincere and heartfelt apology” that caused many people to cry.
McLane said that Armstong “took responsibility” for creating controversy for the non-profit organization .
McLane did not say, however, if Armstrong admitted to doping.
Armstrong, who was stripped of his Tour De France titles , has continually denied that he used performance enhancing drugs during his career. Multiple sources are reporting that he’ll finally admit to his drug use this week when he appears on Oprah.
Armstrong told the Associated Press :
“I told her [Winfrey] to go wherever she wants and I’ll answer the questions directly, honestly and candidly. That’s all I can say.”
