Khloe Kardashian is officially one of the finalists to host Fox’s The X Factor , E! News reports .
Kardashian was in the running for the hosting job back in July, facing competition from Mario Lopez, Kelly Osbourne and Stacy Keibler, among others, before becoming a serious contender a month later . Now it seems the reality star has emerged as a top candidate. TMZ was the first to break the news, citing a source close to the show. Another source said there is at least an 85 percent chance that she’ll get the position.
Simon Cowell said he is looking for a male and female host for the show, and that he prefers someone with no prior hosting experience. He said:
“That will make it more interesting. There’s so much talking on these shows, 11 or 12 minutes. It’s too boring, as Ryan [Seacrest] demonstrated, for one person to say everything. You’ve got to mix it up a little bit. I kind of know what we’re looking for, but that’s why we screen-tested people.”
Cowell also said that, even though a host won’t start until the live shows air, fans can expect a decision within the next seven days.
Even though Kardashian is the front-runner for the female hosting position, the New York Post reports that swimsuit model Chrissy Teigen is her biggest competition . The Post ‘s sources say that Teigen, who is dating R&B artist John Legend, is currently a favorite for the gig. While Kardashian has a large following because of her background, Teigen also has a big fan base. Teigen is also considered to be more natural in front of camera, since Kardashian’s TV experience is with a semi-scripted reality show.
