New York City, NY – The Serendipity 3 restaurant is now a $1,000 Sundae. The price sweet treat is perhaps one of the world’s expensive desserts. The lavish NYC sundae is served in a Baccarat crystal goblet that the customer is permitted to take home.

The Golden Opulence $1.000 sundae was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Serendipity restaurant. Restaurant owner Steven Bruce and his executive chef dreamed up the luscious ice cream treat, Fox News reports.

The Baccarat goblet reportedly retails for $350. The goblet contains both Tahitian and Madagascar vanilla ice cream covered in gold leaf. The chocolate sauce is a mixture of Amedei Chuao and Amedei Porceleana. The sundae’s chocolate offerings are believed to be among the rarest in the world. The ingredients in the chocolate are harvested off the Venezuelan coast. The sundae is also served with a bit of sweet Grande Passion caviar, CNN notes.

The chocolate boasts a flourish of 23-karat gold leaf. The top of the Serendipity 3 $1,000 sundae is laced with gold dragnets, candied fruits, Amedei Proceleana and chocolate squares. The entire sundae is edible, including a gold painted sugar flower.

Serendipity representative Joann Lee had this to say about the $1,000 Golden Opulence sundae:

“Well, I don’t think it’s an everyday item. You know people aren’t just coming in and having it on their lunch break of something. It’s for a special occasion and so I think if you want to celebrate something, a moment in your life. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. And they will, if they have the means, they will splurge and do that for themselves and we’re happy to celebrate wit them.”

The Golden Opulence sundae is not the most expensive treat on the Serendipity dessert menu. The Frozen Haute Chocolate carries the heftiest price tag. The dessert’s goblet is also lined with edible gold. For an added bit of opulence, a 18-karat gold bracelet with 1 carat of white diamonds is placed at the goblet’s base.
