Tim Tebow as tight end?
Aaron Hernandez being released by New England Patriots has the Tim Tebow rumor mill churning away at full speed.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr , Aaron Hernandez was released from the Patriots . Aaron Hernandez is being charged with murder and firearms violations so even if he’s innocent it’s likely his NFL career will be on hold for the foreseeable future.
So could the Patriots make Tim Tebow their tight end ? Tim Tebow was signed onto the Patriots to play as third-string quarterback , but Mike Freeman of CBS Sports reported that Tim Tebow would study extensively as a potential tight end. So it’s not like Belichick isn’t potentially considering the option of Tim Tebow as tight end.
Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski had a good run as Patriots tight ends during the 2011. Together, the two Patriots tight ends earned 2,237 yards and 24 touchdowns. In 2012, they had 16 touchdowns.
But not only is Aaron Hernandez gone, Rob Gronkowski is suffering from four procedures on his forearm and another on his back. The Patriots also hired former New York Giants TE Jake Ballard, but he was out all last season due to an ACL tear. The Patriots’ reserve tight ends are Zach Sudfeld, Michael Hoomanawanui, Brandon Ford and Daniel Fells, but all combined they had 194 receiving yards in 2012.
Sports Grid points out that Tim Tebow “has shown that he’s at his best when he’s out in the flat, breaking tackles.” International Business Times points out that Tim Tebow seems “to possess the tools to be a tight end. He has the size and athleticism necessary to play the position and was used by the New York Jets to block punts.”
But Sporting News says the Patriots won’t make Tim Tebow tight end . They claim the “Pats were wise to load up on tight ends to fit their scheme” and since we are “talking Belichick here” Tim Tebow “will be a quarterback until proven otherwise.”
Do you think the Patriots should make Tim Tebow tight end?
