Big Brother 18 recaps have now begun. The season premiere of Big Brother 18 aired on Wednesday night (June 22), giving fans the opportunity to see the new cast in action for the first time. Episode 1 did not disappoint either, with the 12 new houseguests getting joined by a few familiar faces. Julie Chen is also back as the host for an 18th-straight year, bringing continuity to the reality competition once again. Fans will be able to view the episode right on the main show site to catch up later.
The episode opened with Julie Chen giving a quick introduction of the show and revealing the inside of the BB18 house to viewers. She then spoke about how there are 12 new houseguests who were going to be surprised by four “stowaways” in the house. This confirmed the Big Brother 18 rumors about returning houseguests playing into the theme of summer 2016.
The premiere episode continued with an introduction to the BB18 cast through videos in their hometowns and brief interviews on what they were looking to accomplish this season. This all led to the 12 new houseguests standing outside the front door of the house with Julie Chen, waiting for their chance to start playing the game. Once they were let in the door in groups of four, the new houseguests picked out their beds and sat down for introductions to one another.

Once introductions were complete and the houseguests appeared to be comfortable, Julie Chen came on the television screen in the living room to announce that the four stowaways would soon make an appearance. One by one, Frank Eudy from Big Brother 14 , Nicole Franzel from Big Brother 16 , James Huling from Big Brother 17 , and Da’Vonne Rogers from Big Brother 17 entered the game. The cast now stood at 16 members, with many of the new houseguests showing a lot of frustration that some returnees were getting a second shot.
The second Big Brother 18 twist was that the houseguests were going to compete as teams of four. Each team was captained by a returning houseguest and they took turns selecting teammates. Frank has a team that includes Michelle Meyer, Paulie Calafiore, and Bridgette Dunning. Da’Vonne’s team consists of Paul Abrahamian, Zakiyah Everette, and Jozea Flores. James has a team that includes Natalie Negrotti, Victor Arroyo, and Bronte D’Acquisto. Finally, there was Nicole, who is teamed up with Corey Brooks, Tiffany Rousso, and Glenn Garcia.

Once the teams were selected, they began participating in a competition called “Ride the Rocket.” The object was to be the final team with a member on a suspended rocket, gaining safety for that team through the first two evictions. Second place would earn a $10,000 prize, third place would receive a mystery punishment, and last place would become the “Have Not’s” for the week. Being a “Have Not” meant living in an uncomfortable room, eating slop for the week, and having only cold showers.
The first Big Brother 18 competition was an endurance challenge that really tested the houseguests. In order, the first people to fall of their rockets were Tiffany Rousso, Glenn Garcia, Nicole Franzel, and Michelle Meyer. The first team to lose all their members was Da’Vonne’s team, though, forcing them into the “Have Not” rooms. Frank’s team got the mystery punishment, Nicole’s team got the $10,000 prize, and it was the team for James that ended up winning the competition. Victor Arroyo was the last person left on a rocket, netting his team the win.

After the first competition was over, the houseguests came up with team names and were told to prepare for the next challenge. Julie Chen announced that it would be in three stages, with the three teams that didn’t win the first competition taking part in it. All three teams would be in the first round, with the winner getting safety. Two teams would then compete in the second round for safety as well. In the final round, the losing team of four would be competing to decide the first evicted houseguest.
Big Brother 18 Teams
Team Unicorn
James Huling Natalie Negrotti Victor Arroyo Bronte D’Acquisto
Big Sister
Da’Vonne Rogers Paul Abrahamian Zakiyah Everette Jozea Flores
Freakazoids
Nicole Franzel Corey Brooks Tiffany Rousso Glenn Garcia
Category 4
Frank Eudy Michelle Meyer Paulie Calafiore Bridgette Dunning
Team Unicorn got to sit out and watch and the other three teams competed for safety. Category 4 won the first round and then Big Sister won the second round. That left Freakazoids competing to see which contestant would be the first to get evicted from the BB18 house. That final round wasn’t shown during the season premiere, with Julie Chen announcing it will all be revealed during the second episode.
This Big Brother 18 recap concludes with Nicole Franzel, Corey Brooks, Tiffany Rousso, and Glenn Garcia at risk of becoming the first evicted houseguest. That competition has already taken place, but CBS will show it to viewers during the second night of the event. There are likely to be many additional BB18 rumors and potential spoilers to hit the net as the countdown to episode 2 begins.
