Justin Bieber manager Scooter Braun has become one of the growing number of celebrities seeking gun control reform. Braun turned to social media to make his views known after two tragedies shocked the nation, reported Billboard .
First came the horrific death of Christina Grimmie, an alum of The Voice . The gifted singer lost her life when she was shot after a performance. And while her fans, followers, and family mourned their loss, Americans reeled again after a terrifying nightclub shooting in Orlando. With 53 hurt and 50 dead, Bieber’s manager is among those seeking a way to make a difference.
“Choose to make a difference,” pleaded Scooter.
Justin’s manager is voicing his support for laws designed to preserve freedom while emphasizing safety. However, Braun also emphasized that he is not seeking to take away guns from everyone.
“Last night I was thinking about our nation… my son… this world… what I am contributing to it,” he mused. “I’m not asking Americans to lose rights… I’m not asking everyone to turn in their guns.”
Instead, Bieber’s manager asks that the nation look for way to create laws that will protect freedom while also protecting the innocent.
“I’m asking my fellow Americans to acknowledge we need a system to protect our future and the freedoms we claim to hold so dear. We need gun control laws to add to our freedoms not take away. We need to make the right decisions for the next generation.”
In addition, Braun urged that the nation use the freedom of choice to make the right decision.
“How can we look our sons and daughters in the eye with all we have now seen and not try?” questioned Justin’s manager. “God bless America… But God isn’t going to change this… He gave us free choice. Let’s choose to make a difference.”
As for Bieber, he has not yet offered a statement on the recent shootings. But Justin did talk about gun violence previously.
“In Canada, we don’t really have any guns and there’s no gun violence, so that really solves it,” explained Justin. “I mean, they think that it’s for protection and stuff, but it always ends up in some bozo’s hand.”
Bieber’s manager also shared his view that it’s important to learn from the past, sharing another image to make his point.
“Our past has taught us many lessons… Let us not forget this one. #westandtogether,” posted Braun.
Among the stars speaking out, Kesha mourned the loss of singer Christina Grimmie and questioned how long it would take before laws were enacted to prevent such tragedies, reported E News .
Also using Instagram to share her views, Kesha posted a photo showing her with Christina.
“I’m shocked and horrified,” wrote Kesha. “And angry. How many times are we as a nation going to read a horrific story like this, where someone uses a gun to kill an innocent person, and DO NOTHING. I demand gun control.”
Kesha also expressed her sorrow, emphasizing that she mourned for Grimmie, for her fans, and for her family.
“I am so so so sorry for Christina’s fans and family. My heart is with you. She was a beautiful spirit and will not be forgotten.”
In addition to Kesha and Justin Bieber’s manager, John Legend and Julianne Moore both addressed the topic of guns in the wake of the violence , reported the Mirror .
John turned to Twitter to express his shock over the Orlando mass shooting, asking when something would happen to prevent such tragedies in the future.
“Horrified by the mass shooting in Orlando,” tweeted Legend. “When will we do something to prevent these killing sprees?”
Moore also shared her views on Twitter, asking for reform.
“How many people have to be killed before we act as a nation toEndGunViolence?” asked Julianne. “Orlando Everytown MomsDemand.”
