After the successful Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut of Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War , fans can’t wait to see more of him. Well, they’re going to have their wishes granted when Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters on July 7, 2017. Now, Michael Keaton, who was once rumored to be out of talks to play The Vulture, may very well be back in the running as the main bad guy.

Back in April, Michael Keaton was in serious talks with Marvel to appear as The Vulture in Spider-Man: Homecoming , but then those negotiations fell apart. Once Robert Downey, Jr. came on board for the film, discussions between the studio and Keaton ended up stalling and he was out.

Well, Deadline is reporting that Keaton is not only back in talks to play the main villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming , but that it’s a done deal. If he is indeed part of the cast, he will join Tom Holland, RDJ, and Marisa Tomei as confirmed talents in the film.

Superherohypeis reporting that Keaton won’t be alone in taking on Spider-Man as there will be a minor villainrepresented in the part of The Tinkerer. He is going to be the one that will help The Vulture build his suit from some of the Chitauri technology they will recovered from the Avengers’ battle in New York.

JoBlo says that Spider-Man will receive some extra technology of his own as well. This is likely why RDJ is appearing as Tony Stark/Iron Man in the film, and it will be to give Peter Parker some “web wings” for his Spider-Man suit. This will help him as they will deploy as needed in the film and assist him in fighting The Vulture.

As of now, the only thing that appears to be confirmed is that Keaton is going to be joining the film. All the rest should be seen as nothing more than rumors at this time, and that leads to the next bit of info which is yet another possible villain showing up in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Screen Rantis saying that there is a rumor floating around that Vincent D’Onofriocould appear in Spider-Man: Homecomingas yet a third villain. D’Onofrio plays the role of the villainous Kingpin on the Netflix hit series Daredevil, and rumors have come about that he would take that role to the big screen and face Spidey.

D’Onofrio took to Twitter yesterday to address the rumor and let the world know that they shouldn’t get excited about that just yet.

Just because it may not happen at this moment doesn’t mean it won’t happen in future films. As soon as D’Onofrio shot down those rumors, he tweeted out how excited he would be to actually take the Kingpin to theaters.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has said in the past that there would be crossovers in Spider-Man: Homecoming , and that has been confirmed with Robert Downey, Jr. signing on. That appears to mean that it will only happen in the MCU, and again, not delve into the TV series universe or Netflix world of Marvel at this time.

Maybe in the future, but it seems that time has not yet come.

Tom Holland made an overly impressive debut into the MCU and he is being seen as one of the best versions of Spider-Man ever. Marvel wants to make sure that Spider-Man: Homecoming is as perfect as it possibly can be, and having Michael Keaton as The Vulture would be a step in the right direction. Now, will Vincent D’Onofrio show up as Kingpin? That doesn’t seem likely, but there’s still plenty of time to make something happen.
